SHE Programme - Progress during the month of May:

  • Took 7 physically challenged people to Uslimpatti hospital. 4 were granted the special identity cards entitling them to different benefits
  • Ran a summer English Camp for children from 7 villages. The camp included English and computer tuition, games, singing, activities, refreshments. Inter-caste friendships were formed between children of different villages, which we hope will help to break down some of the barriers.
  • Medical assistance - Made arrangements for two men to get free operations. (One for cancer, one for kidney stones.) This involved a lot of paper work to arrange free treatment for them.
  • Took 6 ANC mothers for their scans. The women have explained that if Father Tony accompanies them, they will be treated properly, otherwise, the hospitals won’t take care of them well. We have also arranged for free scans with a local doctor as the scanning machine in the government is broken.
  • Nutrition Programme – 238 persons are presently benefiting from this on a regular basis.
